AIRAID intake Tube for Stock Airbox

Anybody use one of these? I just ordered one. Figure it may make the intake sound more throaty by removing the resonator on the factory tube.

I like the factory airbox as apposed to the open filter since it keeps Air Intake Temp quite a bit cooler.

Has anyone proven this? I've seen a few say it but i find it highly unlikely if it's a half decently designed CAI.

The factory box pulls it's air from outside engine compartment no matter what speed car is moving. CAI is pulling air from engine compartment. CAI does get outside air when car is moving via the original factory intake tube on the radiator support.

CAI temps at idle and low speeds will increase faster and be higher. Just monitor it on your dash display or data log display.

Dan...

I had a looooong convo with JDM and other tuners about this. (JDM Engineering is the tune I'm running now with my Maggie upgrades).

Anyway, my point is that, it's a give and take thing. The stock box keeps the air inlet temps lower, true, but flows less air. The open air intakes flow more air, but have a higher inlet temp. The higher inlet temps are not as big a deal because when do you need/make the power? When you're moving! So, as you move, the air moves, and the air temps go down. That's when it matters.

So I guess what I'm saying is, theoretically, an open air intake flows more air, and thus gives you more power despite higher inlet temps. ANY open intake filter setup will have higher temps than the stock box.

I understand. I'm not debating extra airflow or the modest HP gain of running a tune and CAI vs. tune alone.

I have the intake tube my car was already tuned by mike rousch mid-atlantic performance. I will say this the tube give my car more throttle response and more pull up top. my car just fill better with the tube vs stock. I am not claiming big gains but my car feels a lot better then before

Got it installed. Looks good .. except for AirAid logo .. need to find a Ford logo or something to fit there. Pretty sure its making the car sound a little meaner ... Throttle response does feel better but could be my imagination. The parts and components are all very high quality ... which they should be for $125 ....

Where did you get this? I can't find it listed on Airaid site or elsewhere.

Is your already have an airaid system can you still use the stock airbox? Even though there would be two places for mas sensor.

Just did this with my C&L intake. Used just the intake elbow. Cone filter is sitting on the shelf.

That looks really good! I think I'm going to do this. Where you'd pick up the C&L?

C&L has always been pretty good, and they usually use blue filters....

Wow! That's super-cool. I have already measured the difference in intake restriction (negative pressure ahead of the throttle body) between stock and my C&L using a manometer. The difference is substantial: 18 inches of water. I never attempted to determine where the restriction lies. I just compared the entire assemblies. I didn't realize you could use the C&L tube with the stock airbox. I'm going to try that and measure the restriction of the "hybrid" intake. If it's the same as the factory we'll know the box is the culprit. If it flows as freely as the C&L with open element we'll know the tube is the restriction.

takes a little man handling but you can get it there. look forward to the results.
