The title pretty much sums it up...

Insideline's 0-60 times are always slower than everyone else. Not sure why.

Still a cool read.

I'm glad they tested the V6 PP, GT with BBP, and SVT with PP to really get the "best" of each motor version. I'm surprised how slow they were compared to other mags/sites. Maybe MT will do this with Randy again, like they did with the M3 and GT.

They don't use dragstrip testing so there is no roll-out like you get in the track timing lights.

Even their roll out time is slow though.

Yeah, even they commented on how the actual times seemed a touch slow. However, most important, given that they were all tested together at the same time, same place, is their relative times which seem quite expected.

I would have thought the Boss 302 LS might have done a bit better against the dreadnought GT500, but given a longer, straighter track, perhaps it did give that big supercharged motor the opportunity to reign supreme. Interesting that about 90% of the GT500 pictures had plumes of smoke pouring off the back tires.

It would be interesting to see how the V6 would do with an even better performance package as it seems to do well enough with the low/mid-grade bits that you can get with it now. Maybe once gas goes over $4 gallon for an extended period Ford might take the V6 a bit more seriously yet and grace it with some real performance bits.

But overall, Ford has developed a well fleshed out suite of Mustangs in the past two years.

I think there are a couple of things to take away from this article:

1 - The V6 with PP is the best value Mustang available. It can hit 80-90% of the GT's numbers for less money, and nets better gas mileage. People shouldn't be ashamed of a V6 anymore.

2 - The GT is the V8 bargain to be had. Although the V6 is closer than ever, the GT is nothing to laugh at either. They can be had with all the performance for $32k, and hold up very well against a lot of other vehicles.

3 - The amount of suspension tuning that the B302/LS recieved is massive. Gaining 2 seconds around a track is huge. Considering the power differential between the LS and GT are relatively small, and how close the more powerful (and heavier) GT500 with SVTPP fared, I'd say the suspension is the deciding factor of the bunch.

4 - The GT500 is still worth purchasing. With dealers offering A-plan on the current GT500, I wouldn't say it's a bad car to own at all. This test surprised me that it still held on to the top spot. Can't wait to see this test again with the 13MY cars.

GREAT PIC! I just wished they would've used a different color on the V6 or V8

Gas has been over 4.00 for awhile here in CA ):
