Sterling Gray & Sonic Blue to be available on 2012 Mustangs soon!!!
After all of the paint supplier issues after the Japanese tsunami, it should come as no surprise that Ford is having to come up with alternatives. So, as a salesman at a large Ford dealership, I've been keeping a close eye on what offerings various Ford models would be getting.
Imagine my surprise to see Sterling Gray and Sonic Blue making an encore on Mustangs! Both are showing as "late availability" in the order banks so I suspect that we'll get them for Job 2.
I bought my '11 5.0L in Sterling Gray instead of getting a '12 because I really wanted Sterling Gray. Who knew that it would make a return so soon!
Many people have mourned the passing of Sonic Blue over the last few years, so its return should be big news for that crowd, too.

Sonic Blue is showing as an option (late availability) for '12 Boss 302's and GT500's, while Sterling Gray is not a '12 Boss 302 or GT500 offering. Looks like Sterling Gray will be unique to V6 & GT models, while Sonic Blue will be offered on all Mustangs.

Will the Sonic blue replace Kona blue? I hope I get mine before that happens. OTOH black stripes will show much better on Sonic compared to Kona.

Dam Im slightly disappointed. I really wanted SG with the brickred interior. Kona was my 1st chioce but after seeing it in person it was just to dark for me. Sonic Blue is the perfect color. Oh well. Can't wait to see it in person on a 5.0

wow,
i was at a dealer in naples today. and saw my first lava red.. it was to black. but had cloud cover! it was my dream color..
but sterling gray is what i wanted before they killed it..
so what is not getting made anymore? thought all the mustang colors were safe.
