...

It appears to me that the only reason these mirrors would be better is aerodynamics?
The reason I'm saying this is because i noticed the base of the mirror has a pointy shape resulting in airflow up and below! If this is is actually true than yes!
Otherwise another nonfolding mirror is pointless IMHO

Love your 1/4 window silverhouses. Want to order a 11- 5.0 and have them, but I see by the install sheet you also have to trim some interior plastic. - even more chance of a screw up. Whats your take?

Does anyone have a DIY for this? I know there was one, but it seems to have been lost in the crash

Very simple. You just drill one hole larger, and drill one new hole. I cut off the alignment pins on the '10 mirrors. No need for them.

Thanks, I'm thinking of doing this mod possibly sometime towards the end of the year once a get a few thing lined up.

Here are the parts number and the cost price for friends and family. The 2011 mirrors are much more expensive.

AR3Z-17682-AA RH Mirror assembly.. Retail $81.95
AR3Z-17683-AA LH Mirror assembly.. Retail $77.95
AR3Z-17D743-BAPTM LH Cover.. Retail $8.68
AR3Z-17D742-BAPTM RH Cover.. Retail $8.68
Covers are unpainted, painted where $12.00 each only available in 2010 colors.

Looking sharp. Too bad I already had my agent 47 mirrors back in 2008 otherwise this would have been the best choice.

It's really not bad. First remove the black plastic tabs with side cutters. Then the two back holes (toward the rear of the car) need to be drilled out larger. I used a 7/8 bit. The third hole of the "triangle" on the new mirror is too short to line up with the current hole so you have a couple of ways to go. Here are 2 options:

Option 1. Remove the third bolt (it just unbolts with a 6/7mm socket can't remember) and secure it using the 2 back bolts. This works but I felt more secure with 3 holes.

Option 2. Line up the third bolt and mark with a sharpie. I again drilled out the hole using the 7/8 bit. Using the big bit gives you some room to adjust it where you want it.

After that just tighten up the bolts and reassemble. The stock power connectors plug right in and work great.

Thanks for the write up. Ever since I saw this thread I wanted these mirrors on my car. I had a few other pieces I wanted to buy, and have painted all at the same time. I had to save some coin to get all of this done, but it was worth the wait. Thanks again.
