Exploded view of wheel hub

Anyone?

Need to show my tech (non-ford dealer) - looking to get H&R spacers, but you need to take the hub off and press in new studs.

anyone have views of this area of the car?

please and thank you

Why do you need to take the hub off? You can use a few washers and a old lug nut to pull the studs thru the hub. It's the same way the tire stores replace broken studs, only they use the impact to pull them thru the hub.

Hey Kristina,
I don't know if you are aware but the S197's use a non standard knurl on the studs.

Most people have had to enlarge the holes to fit aftermarket studs.
I believe Don was one of them.
In the rear most have replaced the axles with Mosers with 3" studs.

What are you trying to accomplish and how much spacing do you require?

True... it was a PITA, too.

There are no longer wheel studs I have found that will fit the 05+. I looked alot.

H&R was supposed to be coming out with a couple kits up to 20mm thick with studs included. However, I called Livermore perf, H&R, and a few other places a couple months ago, and they said there is no word about the kits, and would probably not be produced.

So the only real thick spacer solution is the H&R bolt on spacers. Which are safe and will work fine if you need an inch of spacer.

BUT in that case, unless your wheels have very deep pocketing in the back, you will need to cut the stock studs shorter so the wheel can sit on the spacer right.

If I end up using the 1" spacers I am ordering a new set of front hubs, cutting the studs down 1/4" for the factory 18" bullitts, and shelving the stock hubs on the car now.

Thats if I do not just order some wheels that either fit the brembos without spacers, or I decide to toss them on e-bay and go with something that needs less clearance brake wise.

That was definitely the case a year ago when I was adding longer studs. The hubs had to be redrilled to accept a larger dia knurl size stud. I had so many issues doing the fronts, I decided not to hassle with the rears. I just put in Moser axles that had longer studs already.

True - but the 18" fanblades have the pocketing so I had no issues with my spacers. Not sure about the other Ford factory rims...

I have 1" driftworks spacers with the 18" bullitts and Brembo GT500 brakes. You have to cut down the front studs by about 5mm to get them to fit in the wheel pockets, but it's easy enough to do.

I blue locktited the spacers onto the hubs to be safe.

Works fine so far
