I got a ticket.
I got a ticket the other night for revving my motor on the highway. I was coming home with the wife after picking up some groceries when alittle car yellow cobalt came up along me and revved. I revved but did not in anyway increase speed. I mean its a cobalt for goodness sake. A minute later I get pulled over and the cop . "I heard you revving and were neck and neck". So he thinks a coblat and my car neck and neck and that my loud exhaust is a sign of racing. I am just shocked by this whole thing.

I got in touch with two that night. They said I have a good chance of it being dismissed. They said cops in that area have a big quota.
I had my phone on recording myself and it got the cop saying that "it didnt last for long but it doesnt have to because the law doesnt say it has to be any length of time".

Arizona law forbids racing on streets or highways, and Phoenix area law enforcement officers have a low threshold for what constitutes racing, including take-offs from stoplights.
Arizona 's Racing Statute (28-708)
A person shall not drive a vehicle or participate in any manner in a race, speed competition or contest, drag race or acceleration contest, test of physical endurance or exhibition of speed or acceleration or for the purpose of making a speed record on a street or highway.
Penalties for conviction of street racing (first offense) include:
Possible jail time and/or probation
A fine of around $250 or more
Suspension of your license for a period determined by the judge, up to 90 days

A Man Just Needs Some....
Just contest it and talk to the DA. If you were not speeding there is no grounds for a citation. If you revved your engine there is no law against it other than maybe a noise ordinance. There is no way that the lack of evidence will hold up in court. I wouldn't lose sleep over this until you see the DA.
