Chevy halts shipments of Camaro ZL1 over potential quality issue
GM Inside News has obtained a letter from Russel Clark, Director of Marketing for Chevrolet small cars, small utilities and performance cars, to dealers informing them that shipments of all 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 produced to date are being held by General Motors for a "quality assessment."
There is no explanation as to what's causing the hold or its duration, though the letter does say it "may last a few more weeks." Motor Authority has Chevrolet spokesman Monte Doran on record saying, "We may have found a potential issue that we want to resolve." If you think you know what the issue is, let us know in the comments or send us a tip.

This is not uncommon of course. Mustangs have been held recently and 6.2L Raptors were held. Chances are the 2013 GT500 might even get held in quality control for a bit.
And no one ever knows what the problems are. And while the manufacturer is silent on it, the Internet gets filled with rumors and speculation as to what the problem is.
This should be interesting.

It wouldn't be uncommon if it was a brand new car, but pretty much everything on Camaro ZL1 has been in use on Cadillac CTS-V for a while now. So whatever it is - it should've been fixed by now.
SOmeone on another site said a delivered car was requested sent back to Oshawa...
That's not good.
Take that with a grain of course.

Good ole GM up to its normal trend again...
Yet another reason why I am so glad I own a Stang, and in a few years, a Shelby. I still will never touch a GM product.

Maybe that 650hp beast in a few years.

The answer is simple. The "quality issue" halting shipments of the Camaro ZL1 is the 2013 GT500. It simply is not good enough to provide competition in its current form. Wouldn't be surprised to see revisions when they finally do ship out.
ZL1 Production on HOLD.....Oops, looks like
GM tried rushing the car out a bit too quickly.
Oops

Maybe it's because they realized the production model can't lap VIR as fast as the one they used in the video that did it in 2:52.xx seconds, and therefore need to make some last minute "alterations".
