3.8 rebuild

I wanna rebuild my v6. I'm thinking of forged pistons and a cam with some type of forced induction

Have you considered swapping 4.2 from f150 ? It is very painless swap and yet gives you some serious low end torque gains. Try to search engines on car-part.com for your area...

Look in my how-to thread. There's a couple links in there.

7 bolts and one but and stud to hold drive train. What a simple engine to work on

That would be a sweet swap

However, not worth it imo.

I'm looking at a lifetime build. So what are my options? Looking for anything maybe 95 5.0 ? Would that fit on my v6 k member? Or maybe a 427 crate? 351 Windsor? Anything at all that I can have carbureted, and fit the 99-04 v6 and or v8 k member?

I'm pretty sure only a 4.6 will bolt up. If you went 302 or 351, you need a k-member out of a 94-95.

Personally, if you want a lifetime build, go with a tubular k-member for what you want. I don't think you can get one for a 427 though. But you can't get one for a SBF or LS1.

Remember as well, you gonna need to upgrade your trans and rear end if you go with a V8.

Personally, I think an LS motor in there would be wicked.

V6s use the same k member as the 94-95 gt. You can bolt just about any kind of OHV windsor style engine right in there

Doesn't the 99-04 v6 have a t5 as well? If u went 5.0 shouldn't have to replace trans though if ur doin a lifetime rebuild I'd take it out and rebuild that too. Even off not 302s and t5s and aodes are cheap on Craigslist. If u went stock could probably rebuild both for like $2000. If ur goin carb I think early foxes are carbed? I may be wrong but it's worth lookin into. Just do ur homework before you start

It will bolt up. Just won't handle the torque. Its nearly identical to the WC t-5's. However they had a higher torque rating by a little. The v6 t-5's are rated to 300 ft-lbs which is right at what a stock 302 has.

As far as carbed, anything can be carbed. You just need the right intake.

Either way, its a lengthy swap. My thread has a write up for the 94-95 302. Carbed will make it a little easier, but there still a lot to go into it.

Personally, I think a turbo'd 4.2l build would be the best way to go. There's a lot of potential there....

Look through those. there's a 302 swap, 4.2 swap, info on Power adders and a lot more stuff.
