Doug DeMuro Reviews the Shelby Mustang GT350R

By -

Known for his detail-oriented and somewhat eccentric reviews, what will Doug DeMuro think of the bad-boy GT350R?

Doug DeMuro starts the above review by noting the GT350R’s somewhat exorbitant price tag, which is about four times as much as the “Mustang you rent from Hertz.”

But DeMuro quickly dives into describing what makes the Shelby GT350R so different. He opens the hood and quickly notices there’s no engine cover, and then reads the relatively odd “Carbon-Fiber Composite” message stamped across the front brace. Inside, he highlights the lack of heated and cooled seat switches, and some of the more hardcore readouts for axle oil temperature, and even air-fuel ratio.

Another quirk DeMuro describes is the fact that the pricey Shelby GT350R is somewhat identical to the GT350. Only a plaque inside with the chassis info adds the “R” to the magical moniker. Of course, after diving into such mundane details, he fires up the Voodoo V8 and gives it some gas.

Lastly, DeMuro is puzzled by the fact that the GT350R is a bit of a pricing nightmare, with some extra charges not making any sense when compared to the GT350.

It’s not your typical review, but DeMuro definitely merits a listen. So enjoy, then let us know what you think!
