It’s no secret that the Ford Mustang has a long history of being tied to jets. Hell, there’s still some ongoing debate over whether the car’s actual name is rooted in fighter planes rather than the prancing horse that has come to signify the nameplate.

Whether you agree or not, one thing’s for certain: Ford certainly has come to embrace that connection to jets over the years … the latest being a new 2015 Mustang designed as a tribute to the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II fighter plane, as reported by Fox Sports. And folks, this is one mean-ass looking machine.

The custom Mustang, which will be auctioned on July 31 at the annual Gathering of Eagles charity event, features a carbon fiber chin spoiler, large rear wing, as well as a number of other striking details modeled after the F-35 fighter jet.

Previously, Ford has done special Mustang designs in tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen and the USAF’s Thunderbirds, but this latest model makes a statement like few others have in the past.

Proceeds raised from the 2014 Gathering of Eagles charity event held in conjunction with the Experimental Aircraft Association AirVenture show in Oshkosh, Wis., will benefit the EAA’s Young Eagles educational foundation.
