There will be no Special Edition Mustangs in 2005; Ford doesn't need the buzz to move them this year. They are considering other special editions in the future, including a Boss, Mach 1, Bullitt, and California Special, though the Bullitt and Mach 1 are less likely because they have already been done recently.

There will be no SVT products in 2005. The 2007 SVT Cobra design will be unveiled March 23, 2005 at the New York Auto Show. There will be a Shelby Mustang in the future, but not in 2005.

Motor Trend reports in the March 2005 issue that the Shelby Mustang will be released as a 2007 model and will be powered by the Ford GT's 550-hp supercharged 5.4L 4V V-8. It will not have IRS as previously planned, but a "beefed up" live axle.
