Roush Stage3 Mustang

It has become pretty evident that Roush Performance has been playing things close to the vest about their plans for the new Mustang.

Following earlier speculation that the horsepower for the new Roush Stage3 Mustang would come in somewhere around 630 horsepower, we’re now learning the official number for the RS3’s Supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 is more like 670 horsepower at its 6800-rpm redline, with 545 lb.-ft. of torque at 5000 revs, according to a Car and Driver report.

Sure, that’s 30 horses shy of that 700 benchmark that some other performance companies, like Saleen and Hennessey, have been touting for their spin on the new Mustang, which includes the 730-hp S302 Black Label and 717-hp Hennessey HPE700. But 670 horses is more than enough power for just about anyone who’ll buy the car, perhaps short of that red caped crusader known as Superman, if he’s in the market for a new set of wheels.
