Possible Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Replacement Spotted

By -

Although we’re still a bit unsure about exactly what it’ll be called, we’re definitely starting to get a clearer vision of the new Ford Mustang variant expected to replace the Shelby GT500.

Spy photographers recently caught a few shots of what is believed to be a prototype for the Shelby replacement in Michigan, which is expected to be called the Mustang GT350 or Mustang GT500, according to a Motor Trend report.

Less disguised than before, it now seems certain that most of the cosmetic differences between the new variant and the 2015 Mustang already revealed will be wrapped up in the front end of the car.

Motor Trend suspects that it could be an indication that the new variant will feature a  grille like the 661-hp 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 as well as unique front fascia with different fog lights than the standard model. Those “Mad Max” looking wheel covers are almost certainly hiding higher performance brakes and tires needed to manage the additional power expected in the higher-performance model.
