Old Yeller Shelby GT350 Pulls in $295K at Auction

The one-off 2016 Shelby GT350 called “Old Yeller” has struck quite a chord with at least one fan.

The bright yellow Mustang recently fetched a bid of $295,000 at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The auction is part of Ford’s continued support of the Experimental Aircraft Association and its Young Eagles youth education programs.

Designed by Ford designers Melvin Betancourt and Nicole Rush, “Old Yeller” was inspired by the P-51D Mustang fighter plane that was a regular at air shows while piloted by veteran airman Bob Hoover.

The neon accented “Old Yeller” is the ninth in a line of cool custom spins on the Mustang since Ford’s partnership with the EAA AirVenture began in 2008. The AV8R, the first of the nine Mustangs created in the collaboration, sold for $500,000. And although “Old Yeller” might have fallen a bit short in attracting that kind of bid, the bright yellow Shelby GT350 certainly isn’t short on star power.
