This Nasty Fox Body Goes 200 MPH in the 1/4 Mile!

200mph

Every once in a while, a wickedly fast Fox Body takes us by surprise and gets our attention, and this one certainly fits that bill. Racing at Maryland International Raceway at the Import vs. Domestic races, this turbocharged monster nearly gets into the five-second range at over 200 mph!

Details are few and far between, so any help on the matter would be appreciated, but supposedly this fast Fox is powered by a twin-turbo Big Block Chevy, which helps it take the drag strip at 6.08 @ 202.97 mph. Seeing it from the cameraman’s second perspective in the video below really gives you a better idea of how much this car is really hauling when making a pass. Although it seems like the car’s drive-line might be a limiting factor into getting better times; low 6s should be a bit quicker than just over 200 mph. It also sounds like he lifts early, indicating that he has run out of gear, and opens the ‘chute a bit before crossing the line.

Perhaps if we knew more about the car, we can find where that extra bit of speed might be coming from, but for now, just enjoy the video!
