For the first time in 6 years, the Mustang has overtaken the Camaro in terms of muscle car sales figures. This represents a major boon for the blue oval, and hopefully one that can continue for the foreseeable future.

According to theĀ Detroit News, over the last five months, the Mustang has outsold the Camaro by over 20,000 units. While the Camaro sold a respectable 30,166 cars, the Mustang almost doubled that with 56,571 cars sold. A brilliant turn of events for an already brilliant car.

While some analysts have said that since the Mustang is still very new, these numbers are inflated, the overwhelming number of positive reviews for the new pony car is definitely helping the car sell.

However, the Camaro that the Mustang is currently going up against is still the fifth generation, and not the sixth. The new Camaro will be out later this year, and at that time we will see who wins the war of new-gen pony cars.

But for those early adopters of the new Mustang, how are you liking it so far? Sound off.
