At this point, we’ll take any news we can get on the first new higher performance model of the new Mustang in development.
The latest seems to be confirmation that the upcoming variant will be badged GT350 with speculation that it will come equipped with a unique 5.2-liter V8 engine sporting a flat-plane crankshaft pushing out 600 hp, according to an Automobile Magazine report.
Notice the emphasis I put on “flat-plane crankshaft”?
Well, there’s a reason for that.
Flat-plane crank V8 engines have higher revving capabilities and more responsive power delivery than crossplane-crank V8s. This is the kind of feature typically reserved for racing cars.
