Just this month, The Smoking Tire‘s Matt Farah has made “One Take” videos in a V6 2012 Mustang and a 2006 Mustang GT. Those have been good and all, but they still weren’t exactly the ‘Stang that the audience wanted to see. Crazed commenters clamored for a look at Farah’s now well-known Project Fox Mustang. And so he listened and produced the video below, a development drive to test his famous Fox’s suspension and brakes.

For those who are still in the dark on this car, it’s a 1988 Ford Mustang LX that Farah has entirely redone. It’s a former California Highway Patrol vehicle that’s been stripped down and built up with the help of Maximum Motorsports, BBi Autosport, and RDB LA. Now that it’s all put together, it’s time to fine-tune and tinker until it’s just how he wants it. To do that, he take it out on Mulholland Highway, just north of Los Angeles, to check how the chassis, suspension, and brakes handled.

Farah notes that he’s not actually pushing the car to its full limit and potential, due to an exhaust leak from a few issues with his headers. He knows what he has with his 302 Ford Racing crate motor anyway. Once he gets going, he compares the turning to an Evo, saying that it corners super flat, and drives how he imagines an ’80s Trans Am car would feel.

He goes over everything in the video, but here’s a quick recap of some of what’s been done to the car:

  • Independent rear suspension
  • Torsion differential
  • Custom valve Bilstein shocks
  • Tubular K-member front suspension
  • Delrin bushings
  • Widened six inches
  • HRE Wheels (18×10.5)
  • Continental 295 R Compound tires
  • Ford Racing crate motor (302 RGT40)
  • Terminator Cobra brakes
  • Terminator Cobra steering system
  • T5 gearbox
  • Flowmaster cat back exhaust
  • Maximum Motorsports cage
  • Recaro seats
  • Fender flares

So what do you think? Was it worth the wait?
