We know what some of you are thinking: “The only way to make a Ford go fast is with Chevy power.” Followed by some sort of GM supremacy claim and all that jazz. Simple truth is this: the LSx engine is a damn good platform for going fast, being relatively inexpensive to build, and decently reliable. In the Holy Trinity of Performance — price, speed, reliability — it’s about as close to a perfect triangle as one can get.

But what happens when LSx power and an 84mm turbo are slapped into a New Edge Cobra? Well, this. Wheel stands violent enough to make you re-think a launch, and quarter-mile times that’ll make you re-think the very meaning of fast.

After all was done, some impressive times were laid down. 8.53 @ 162 mph was the first solid run, Followed by an 8.52 @ 160. That was the best of his runs on the track. But after the formalities were completed, this Cobra lined up against a WS6 for a bit of street racing action. The Pontiac, fr8train, was a strong contender, but still couldn’t pull off a win versus the Mustang. So they may say the only way to make a Mustang fast is to put an LSx in it, but it looks like the only way to make an LS engine go fast is to put it in a Mustang!
