Latemodel Restoration Track Tests its Coyote-Powered Pace Car: Project 777

It’s cool to watch aftermarket companies draw back in their files and unearth inspiration for their present projects. Take for example, Latemodel Restoration’s latest build: the SVE Pace Car – Project 777. This killer S-197 was first fortified with plenty of suspension and rim/tire upgrades before it saw a ton of track lapping on many of the Texas road courses.

As fate would have it, the stock Coyote cooked one of its cylinders, and instead of building the stock bullet, Latemodel Resto decided to swap in a wicked, high-compression Ford Racing Aluminator XS motor that put down serious power (here) and spun to the moon. Latemodel Resto wasn’t done yet, though, as they recently wrapped the thing in a wicked-cool throwback vinyl treatment that harkens back to the 1979 Ford Mustang Pace Car. Who would have thought the timeless Fox-body theme would look so good on the new chassis?

Want to know the best part, though? They’re back to hot-lapping the Pony, and thanks to the Ford Racing motor, it’s faster than ever. Enjoy the video and don’t forget to crank your speakers.

Listen to all the good sounds on track. There’s a GT500, a supercharged V6, a couple of Coyotes, a few pushrods, some modulars, and even a Fiesta ST with its EcoBoost out there chopping it up on track.
