2. Just how unique is this mysterious Mustang?

The history of the GT350s is quite interesting, as it was Ford's attempt to maintain a presence in the racing scene.  Racing muscle cars was a huge part of the 1960's culture, and Ford needed a formidable competitor. From necessity, the GT350 was born.

Shelby American produced the early Mustang GT350s and equipped each of them with a unique serial number. The SFM designation stands for Shelby Ford Mustang, and the R or S in the number indicates whether the vehicle is rated "street" or "race" with the first number being 5001.

This particular 350 boasts the serial number SFM 5S013. The thirteenth Mustang GT 350 is a unique piece of machinery, and its current owner has kept it stored for half its life.

This beauty was originally shipped and invoiced to Hi-Performance Motors in Los Angeles, California. The original price was $3,300, and the dealer received the vehicle just before Christmas in 1964.

The car was used as a public relations car for Shelby American and even appeared as the subject of a poster in the 60s. Through the years, the vehicle has had nine owners total, and its current owner purchased the 350 in 1990.  The anonymous owner purchased the car without even a picture and has stored it away since the day he purchased it.
