Build from the Brain

I like anyone who goes against the grain and that’s what Scaife did when he decided to throw the Chevy LS1 into his car. It has to be the most practical way to make power on the planet and certainly one of the cheapest ways which is exactly what inspired him to do it. Why not? An engine is after all just a means to an end.

Father Son Combo

Massive respect has to be given to people who can fabricate. If you’ve ever MIG welded, TIG welded or worked with metal you certainly know how difficult it can be. This guy and his dad designed the chassis themselves. Definitely impressive!

Simplicity

With cookie cutter builds ever present in the car scene today (front splitter / rear wing, “track day bro” builds), it’s nice to see someone who just kind of said screw it and did his own thing. He isn’t trying to imitate what’s trendy and it shows throughout the build. Paint is bare, body panels are mismatched and the interior is purposeful in the way it’s laid out.

Mechanical Display

A lot of mechanical bits of this car can be seen working. One of the little details that stand out is the rear spring setup. A custom pushrod system was created that allows suspension geometry of the car to be controlled accurately. The front of the car sees a similar setup, though it isn’t visible.

Future Plans?

Turbocharging is one idea that is on the menu. Given the raw nature of this car, an all motor setup fits the character, but we’ll have to wait and see what Kyle decides to do. Whatever he does there is one thing that is certain: he is NOT painting it and has made several comedic posts on Instagram regarding inquiries.
