For the longest time, the Mustang’s natural home has been at the drag strip or on the street, but lately the pony has been stepping out of its comfort zone, dressing in different and more track-oriented guises to show off what it can do.

For this iteration of Mustang, in comes Professor of Sideways: Vaughn Gittin Jr. and his RTR ‘Stang.

For those of you who don’t know Jr., he is a pro drifter in the Formula D series. He runs a billion-horsepower Mustang that has so much angle it could be a triangle. Over the last few years he’s partnered with Ford not only to run his program, but also to work with Ford to produce a consumer version of his own race car.

When the new Mustang was announced, I was actually kind of worried that the partnership wouldn’t continue, but thankfully I was wrong. Honestly, it would have been very shortsighted of Ford to kill the partnership. We now have a few leaked images of what the new RTR Mustang will look like, and it looks amazing.

It adds a bit of sinister to the car that I felt was lacking. A more aggressive front fascia, rippling hood and some seriously dark wheels. Gittin told Road & Track the dealerships that have the RTRs will expand, and that parts will be fully customizable, meaning you will be able to pick and choose your RTR parts.

Personally I just hope they offer angle kits, and a hydraulic handbrake. That would take this car and crank it up to 11. The 2015 Mustang is set to hit production in a month, and hopefully we will get some of the first rides soon. Look for the RTR to be on sale a few months after that.
