automatic transmission hesitates
When I go to take off sometimes it dosent go like its in netural for a second then takes off. some times it squeels the tires if i try to take off in a bit of a hurry.
It dosent seem to be slipping just hesitates for a second sometimes. It did it like once a week or so. SO I had the fluid changed now it seems to do it more often. THE longer I sit still the more likely it seems to want to do it.
car has 120,000 miles. I heard if the fluid hasnt been changed ever then dont change it. just got the car a year ago so I had it done.
going to drive it 2,2000 miles next month wondering if its headed for a problem

Does the RPM's rise then slam into gear? If so the pump in the transmission is going out. If it seems that the throttle lags, there are plenty of threads here that explain how to reset the gas pedal for response.

Could be the pump, but more likely the solenoid pack or servo bores. Either way you're going to have to have some work done. That is if the fluid level is fine. That would be the first thing I checked.

*can* a tuner be used to adjust pressure on a ford? dunno, dont have a auto...but think all 'throttle valves' used these days are proportional solenoids - as such, might be adjustable.
my mom had a impala with a sticky throttle valve, common on a chevy, cost 2200 to replace as half the car has to come apart to remove it, so she traded it in...i couldnt help but wonder after the fact why a detergent couldnt be used to clean varnished up solenoid spools(similar to yours- they still work, but 'stick' and pressure builds harshly once overcoming whatever is gumming up the spool...), or if a tuner could simply be used to dial up increased pressure at idle- a firm light throttle shift would be better than a slipping transmission burning clutches between neutral drops...dunno, just always wondered...
would bet theres some kind of detergent with defoamer out there compatible with ATF... lastly- around here many dealers use recycled oils, bought by the drum...sure it meets required specs, but always wondered if good as it could be...we ran recycled hydraulic oil at work for a year(hundreds of machines) and had lots of weird hydraulic issues...not a fan. lately read how some ATF flushes actually filter/recycle oil right in the 'machine' on site...filtering old oil, putting some additives dont sound as appealing as fresh for some reason...but with sticky valves, sure seems a detergent could be added...

Servo bores wear out causing sticking servos. Common issue with these transmisson. Mine would slam in reverse, but not all the time. Left alone it will eventually snap the band. I had the fluid changed and when I got it back I had other issues. Replaced with a reman. trans from ford.
