Sad day for historical WWII Aviation

Last week a vintage WWII P-47 Thunderbolt crashed into the Hudson River in NYC, killing it's pilot.

The fighter was called 'Jacky's Revenge' and was the same plane that I had a picture with my car taken last year at a Wings and Wheels show in NJ.

R.I.P. William Gordon.

WOW!!!! Man that is terrible, so sad

By the way Tom, sorry I did get your emails. I'm really bad about replying to emails because my work blocks persona email, so once I see it, it's outta sight outta mind. I follow that guy's build though, and he and I talk here and there. He's a Marin vet. Kinda makes me sad cuz his second iteration (the current one) of his P-51 theme is very close to what I had in mine. At least the front end is.

Apology accepted Patrick. I was beginning to think you didn't love me anymore.

Despite the death of the pilot, the P-47 can probably be restored. It's irreplaceable.

Here are a couple more pics from that same show I went to last year.

May he rest in peace.

I saw that on the news. It's even more sad with a personal connection like yours.

Some of you may remember my dad rode in the Galveston Gal, a P-51 based in Galveston, TX, about a year (almost to the day) that it went down in a lake and killed the pilot and the passenger. It was not recoverable.
