Tunes

Guys been going in circles for the past week deciding

With no plans for Super/Turbo/Boss or CJ manifold upgrades, what would you consider the most appropriate tune/cai for road course track use considering I have a stock engine?

Was looking at VMP tunes but its a one time order with additional costs for updates. AED seemed overkill for stock engine. Steeda seemed safe and really not sure about Bama v2's.

Any advice is welcomed :-)

I liked Steeda. I had their tune and CAI before I went supercharged.

SGwick,

I can put you in contact with Matt H. one of our lead tuners ... he can provide as much info as you need & help solidify your decision with wanting to go with Steeda!

Best Regards,

TJ

Hi Tim, it's Steven (PM'd you), I've called Steeda but Matt is always busy on the phone with other customers that's why I posed the question here in the forum. I'm sad I didn't get to talk to him but happy knowing that Steeda/Matt is providing one-on-one service. No worries I'm fairly certain on Steeda just bouncing it off the forum drivers :-)

Steeda is my plan down the road. I only want to do intake/tune for my engine.

EDIT: I have to correct myself. Long Tube headers would be ideal too. Hearing Patric's car makes me want headers really bad. But that's it, I swear!

Definitely curious to hear about how you like everything. I'm on the fence about a tune/cai.

What tune are you running?
Street? 650 rpm seem pretty low.
I run the old Bama race tune 100% of the time. Idle is just a click under 1K

I'm running Steeda tune (93) w CAI. I sent them an email asking about it but of course it the weekend. It idles rough (tune idle set at 650rpm) but I'm thinking it's because of the low idle but engine mods are all new to me so that's why I ask

Just came back from a drive (10pm now). When I turn on the engine, the rpm is at or between 500-750rpm (with slight needle movement bouncing), there's also a metal sound (knocking maybe) coming from engine bay, throttle application feels like an on/off switch, and on hard acceleration feels/gets bogged down or hesitation. Not sure what to make of it but definitely not what I want or expected. Its the weekend so hopefully Steeda (Matt) can work his magic next week. As long as it's worked out before the 25 June (Road Atlanta trackday)

My idle with Bama v2 tune is just a little under 1,000 -- maybe 800-900. Which seems a little high to me but I never bothered to adjust it.

After driving around for a couple of days with my new Steeda CAI (manual) and SCT X4 tune (Matt) start ups are problem free, no weird (bouncing) idling and set to 650 rpm. Throttle application is super smooth and I'm able to modulate power :-) I still ran it like I always do on the street (under 3.4krpm) but I can sense the power under the surface more readily. The exhaust sound is definitely deeper but only slightly louder (minimal). Exhaust rumble used to be at or above 3K rpm but now occurrence is more frequent (>2.5K rpm) The speed is deceiving, meaning I can get up to speed faster with less build up (noise, car movement), power is applied smoothly and the engine isn't straining and giving you visual/auditory cues (if that makes sense). True test will be on the 25 June (Road Atlanta) but from what I've experienced I'm confident the Steeda CAI and tune will more than prove themselves. Overall I'm happy with my purchase
