i am thinking of getting an after cat x pipe and wondering if someone has done that on here and has some sound clips.

i'm keeping my gt500 axlebacks.

I have done it, but don't have sound clips. I can tell you to remove the resonators at the same time and that it sounds awesome. I get complements all the time on my cars sound. It's deep and rumbly at idle, mean and nasty under hard acceleration but totally quiet at cruise speed. Go for it, you won't regret it.

I have cats and resonators deleted with BBK x-pipe and gt500 axle backs and I love the way it sounds.

It removes the restriction from the stock H pipe and adds a mean NASCAR type of growl to the exhaust note. It flows smoother than an H pipe and sounds different too.

Sounds as if I'd like this. I'm also running GT500 axlebacks but with the 4" single pipe. I think Darren has the quads.

I don't want to do any other mods such as removing the resonators. I'm assuming the X pipe is a direct weld in.

If you are not deleting the resonators, it is bolt in IIRC.

I have the quad GT-500's on my car. A little throatier idle, sounds great at WOT, and nice and quiet cruising down the interstate. There are times I wish it was a little louder, but being a daily driver, I think I'd get tired of it if it were louder.

Any recommendations? There are lots available. I have a GT premium, stock exhaust with GT500 axlebacks.

I think the H gives it a deeper tone, which I happen to like. The X makes it sound mean at high rpm, but that's what keeps me from going X.

You could always go for an aftermarket H to keep the deep throaty sound.

I currently have an offroad h pipe sitting in the basement. too obnoxious sounding. it rattled my marbles whenever in was driving beside a large concrete median lol

I chose the Pypes X pipe. It is totally bolt on using the factory clamps making it the easiest and cheapest option, while being made of quality stainless steel. I ended up welding the back side to eliminate the resonators, but if you don't want to do that you don't have to.

X pipe for the win. Not a lot of people do the X pipe because of the rasp.
But, it flows better like Trumpetlon mentioned above and I love the sound.

Do you have to tune the car if you get an aftermarket x pipe? I know you do if you delete the cats.

Yea the only time no cats sounds good is on the 03-04 cobra or the SN95 IMO. I can always tell when an 05+ has no cats, just sounds messy.

Darren - you do know I'm selling my Borla X Pipe right? I just posted it yesterday. With my new Kooks setup, I don't need it anymore.

So to answer your question, I had that setup on mine for a couple of years, it's all the sound clips I've posted in the past. I had it on with my Borla S Types before, and then the Corsa Extremes. So it'd sound the same as your setup, except not the GT500's. It sounds great. The X is more Euro sounding, while the H is more American sounding.

No tune required as long as you leave the cats in place. Doing the exhaust system is a cheap and easy mod that brings plenty of bang for the buck and makes your car sound like you want it to. There are plenty of options out there to meet whatever goals you have in mind.

I had GT500 mufflers then later replaced stock H-pipe with a Borla after cat X-pipe. After the X-pipe installation the car lost the deep throaty sound. I was not happy until I added the cat delete pipes. The more modifications you make, the more you will like the X-pipe sound. Especially when you start revving to 7k or beyond.
