Vibration in steering wheel/chassis at 55 mph
Hi all
My GT has picked up a vibration in the chassis that starts at 55 mph and disappears at around 70 mph. One dealership stated that the vib is coming from the drivetrain. My main dealership checked the tire balance and said they could not find it. The tires were rotated and balance was checked and that did not fix the problem. They said that the last Mustang they had in the shop for that problem, they had it for 6 months and had to get Ford engineers involved. Is this a known issue?

Is this an issue, no I would say this is a plague. May I direct you to this 76 page thread about it. http://mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15990
And yes my 5 day old mustang also has it, noticed it the first time I took it over 50

It seems driveshaft or ring and pinion account for nearly every fix, I myself plan to install an aluminum one piece. If that still doesn't fix it, ill be having them check the ring and pinion.

My 2016 V-6 has it. Dealer replaced drive shaft twice and still have the vibration defect. I don't think it is a faulty drive shafts that is causing the problem. Some seemed to have had the vibration reduced after indexing the drive shaft. It's been about 8 weeks and am still trying to get it fixed. Ford Customer Service has not been much help.

Well the dealer stated that although they replaced the guts in the rear end, it still vibrates a little. not as much as before, but still buzzes. They are now going to replace the driveshaft!

Well they replaced the driveshaft and it is smooth as glass now! They found that the pinion gear was bent and had a .004 variance in different areas around the gear.
