This is what happened. On Tuesday I drove my car to work and there was no crack in the windshield that was visible. When I left to go home for lunch I immediately saw the crack and it's a good size. It goes from the top of the windshield down and goes underneath the rearview mirror.

I took it to the shop on Thursday with a check engine light came on again within a month time and to check the windshield. Check engine light was a faulty oxygen sensor. They did their test on the windshield, could not find any rock chips or fragments or signs that it was hit. So they took pictures and sent it off to Ford to get the claim approved. Well they denied the claim due to they are saying that the window was already replaced before. Which is crap since it's exactly as it was when I bought it from the dealer. The built date for my car was July 2013 and they windshield had a date of Nov 2012. They said if there is a 3 month difference between they two then it has been replaced.

Now I get to call Ford and fight with them to try to get them to replace the windshield.

Has anyone else had any problems with their 2014?

My insurance handles glass claims and the deductible is 50 bucks. Easier than waiting on ford. Check with your insurance company.

Most insurance companies will charge you extra for OEM glass .. if the Pony behind the mirror is important to you.

This. That is such garbage. Clearly that is a stress fracture, and they're clearly agreeing with you. How the hell could you have your windshield replaced before your purchased the car?????

Who the **** works at Ford's warranty department?? A ****ing bunch of retarded monkeys could do a better job at approving claims!!!

Yep, bought the car brand new with 15 miles on it. The dealership checked to see if they replaced it, but they didn't find any service ticket.

Been down this road to many times. The Glass could have been replaced at Ford in manufacturing. In transportation and at the dealer all of which do not have to be disclosed. Some times the transportation company will replace it with out letting Ford or the dealer know. All of this is legal. I have had issues like this even getting the car repainted to find out all of that happened at the end of the factory line.

If Ford will not pay for it Call the best Glass company and get it taken care of. My insurance (I live in Florida) will replace up to 3 glass events in a year with No deductible.

How do I know I have a suburban I use for work which I drive in Central and North Florida and I have had it replace 4 times LOL

the three month thing sounds like pure bs, how can they guarantee that installed windshields are built within three months of the cars build?

and honestly whats the impact on fords bottom line here for a lousy piece of glass? if they wont do it your insurance should take care of it no problem.

Here's an update. Thanks to Deysha for escalating the issue for me. The dealer has agreed to cover the cost of getting a new window and labor cost. Glad that they stepped up to correct the issue.

Glad it worked out but personally I wouldn't even have bothered with Ford. They are notorious for denying everything. The windshield in my 2006 GT cracked and I called my insurance company. The next day they had a company that came out to my house and replaced it in the driveway. I paid the $100 deductible and in less than 24 hours I had a new windshield. Better than beating around the bush with Ford.

Does anyone know how the decode the glass date codes.
All the windows in my 2013 GT500 coupe are marked either 2 A E or 2 A F. Cars build date was Jan 14, 2013. 2 A E = 2012 NOV, 2 A F = 2012 DEC.

I just got off the phone with Carlite Tech support and got the rundown on the window glass date codes.

2 A E = 2012 NOV

First number is the year.
Example: 2 = 1992, 2002, 2012

Any letter after the number indicates the month.
Example:
A = Jan
B = Feb
C = Mar
D = Apr
E = May
F = Jun
G = Jul
AB = Aug
AC = Sep
AD = Oct
AE = Nov
AF = Dec

Lol, I checked for animal prints on the car, any kind of marks around it and there wasn't any.

This Sunday I had the same exact crack occur on my windshield. I mean exactly the same. Happened while it was parked. Took it to the dealer, claimed it may be denied if it started by an impact chip. There is no chip; it's a straight line coming from the edge of the glass. If I go through my insurance, the deductible is $500, so not worth filing a claim.

I find it hard to believe (not really) that Ford is trying to deny the warranty claim on this. Anyone from Ford customer service (Deysha?) still around to help?
