Question on shifting for speed (0 - 60)
Guys
So today I was driving in an isolated Texas town, the road wide open in front and behind me, and I decided to do a few 0-60 tests, and based on the track app, I came in at 6.2 / 6.0 and 6.1 seconds. Each time when I took off on 1st gear I'd almost redline it before shifting to 2nd and the same into 3d, but by that time I'd already reached 60 miles. The car is supposed to do 4.5 seconds, according to the references by Ford. I am, by no way, hung up on this, however, if the issue is that I need to shift sooner, then that I'd like to know, so I can try it. Is that the case? Am i shifting too late?
Would appreciate any input. Thanks guys

Difficult to answer based on how you describe it.
What RPM do you launch at? Do you side step the clutch or release more gradually? These make a BIG difference.
For fastest 0-60 on Street applications I rev to~2500 and drop the clutch while ~rolling onto the throttle. Shift at 6600 or so. Practice makes perfect. Keep going.

Thanks for the reply 5.Monster. I've actually been doing some research and it sounds like I've been doing it wrong. I actually did not rev the engine and just started from the idle 1K RPM and shifted as I'd normally would. I will try it again and let you guys know.

Good luck and keep practicing. Is the car an auto? If so stand on the brake while revving up, then release the brake suddenly and floor it.
If not keep trying different RPM, and clutch release strategies.

I am not my friend. Haven't done it either, but I am sure you'll get your answer if you google it up. Let me know what you find and how it works when you do find out.
