The key to the 4 bnagers exhaust is doing nothing to it. Just leave it quiet. Making it louder is just embarrassing and sounds like an angry weed wacker. Gotta leave it quiet, that's best for it.

one of the reasons i avoided that engine was the condensation issue they had on the trucks. i heard they tried to fix it, but no dice. so i decided to go with something proven, plus, the thought of running premium gas in it to get all 300+ horses irked me.
the v6 sounds really nice once you push it. it puts a smile on my face every morning on my way to work

Another question. I have the standard 17" wheels. Are the standard 17" (or aftermarket) wheels for the 2011-2014 Mustangs interchangeable?
I just looked in the Owners Manual and oil for the EB is 5W30, oil for the 3.7L & 5.0L are still 5W20 as it has been since 2011.

As far as wheels, I'm HOPING 17" wheels for/from a 2011-14 fit as my winter wheels are 17" MB from Discount Tire Direct and was hoping I did not need to purchase a new set of winter wheels when I upgrade to a 2015 V6 or EB.
LUG NUT ARE DIFFERENT though, Ford went from 1/2-20 to 14MM (IIRC).

I'm not sure what the deal is with the 5W-20 vs. 5W-30 oil. According to Fords official initial tech specs that were all over the internet, it stated that the engine specs for 2015 had not changed from 2011, when the 3.7L V6 was first released. My 2011 V6 required 5W-20 oil. My 2015 Owners Manual states 5W-30 oil. The oil cap on the 2015 engine, on the other hand, states "use only 5W-20 oil".

I'm going to stick with 5W-20 Synthetic until someone tells me different (I have several cases of 5W-20 Lucas Synthetic Oil).

That's cool bro. Good info and interesting. I wonder if the focus turbo EB also gets 5W30 weight

Ya know Doug, I bet I was reading the wrong page of the Owners Manual, and only saw the oil specs for the Eco Boost. And I did notice that the lug nut threads are different.

I found out that the standard aftermarket TPMS sensors will not work on the 2015 Mustangs. You will need to get these new sensors from a Ford dealer, and they have to be "programmed" based on your VIN number. I think they said that there are a half dozen different programs for the TPMS, and using your VIN, they can tell which program to use. And by the way, in case you are using different wheels, or adapting a spare tire, these new TPMS are back-ordered until sometime in April.

If you don't have the TPMS on your wheel, I believe that some warning light will illuminate on your dashboard. If you use the optional small spare tire kit for the 2015 Mustang (Ford P/N FR3Z-1K007-C), it will not have a TPMS. Some info on this kit. The tire/wheel size is a T155-60R18. It measures 25.3" OD. It will fit all 2015 Mustangs with either 17", 18" or 19" wheels, but will NOT fit with the GT Performance Package (67G) or any Mustang with 20" wheels.

The OD on the standard V6 tire (235/55R-17) is 27.4", so the little spare is quite a bit smaller in OD, plus it's not good for any sustained driving above 50 mph.

Here is the mini spare kit. It includes a scissor jack and a lug wrench.

Here it is mounted in the spare tire well of a 2015 Mustang.

When it comes to my 2015 Mustang and the spare tire issue, there are three options. Option 1, is to call Triple A and request a tow to a tire store, since there is no spare tire. Option 2, is to purchase the mini-spare sold through the Ford dealers, or option 3, which is to purchase a spare tire like the other four on the car.

Option 1 is a non-starter with me. If I'm in the middle of nowhere (going to or from Las Vegas for instance), just getting cell phone service is sometimes iffy, and in many cases, there are no tire stores to even go to. Plus, it would at the very least, screw up the entire day.

Option 2 is somewhat better, but then I'm stuck driving at 50 mph for possibly 200 miles (to or from Vegas again), and then screwing around trying to find a tire store with the correct tire. Plus the little spare tire kit is over $250 from Ford.

Option 3 was the most logical in my opinion. I can change the tire in 30 or 40 minutes, and then as Bob Dylan said in a song, "keep on keepin' on". Plus I would know that the tire is the same size (or even the same brand, etc.).

I measured the tire well in the 2015 and found that it is the correct diameter as the tires. It's not as deep as the tire is wide, but it's close enough. Here's what I came up with:

002_zps48f2939b.jpg?t=1424890383
I purchase a new wheel for a spare, the same wheel as was standard on the car (Part No. FR3Z-1007-A) and another P235/55-17 tire (same brand as what came on the car). The full size tire fits fine in the 2015 wheel well. The wheel well is not quite as deep as the section width of the tire (about 9 1/2 inches), so it sticks up above the trunk floor about 2 inches.
I can live with that, it's a trunk after all, and the peace of mind of having a spare that is the same as the four tires on the car is worth not having a flat floor in the trunk. Everything I need to change the spare if I ever have to fits easily under the wheel (jack, lug wrench, etc.). I stuck all that stuff into a canvas tool bag I had to keep it from rattling in the trunk. It does add a little weight in the rear, which helps balance out the car. I also had a tire cover in my garage.

It serves two purposes. It keeps anything I throw in the trunk from scratching the wheel, and it keeps my wife's dry cleaning clean when I pick up her stuff from the cleaners.

The new tire set me back about $115. The new wheel was kind of pricey (about $600 list at the Ford dealer) but I got if for much less since I purchased the car there. The way I look at it, it's a one time purchase that can last as long as I have the car, and can keep me from having a bad day in the event of a blowout.

Just as a reminder, all cars had full size spares in the trunk "back in the day" and no one ever complained about it...

So George ...

Are you saying the stock 17" "road wheel/tire" fits down in the diameter of the spare well and the sidewall actually rests at the bottom while being FULLY INFLATED ??

My 2011 18" "road wheel/tire" (Pirelli 235/50-18) would only fit down in the spare well if DEFLATED and stuck up out of the well 1.5" (see pics). It's diameter was 27.252".

One other thing ... where did you get the 27.4" diameter for 235/55-17 ?? It "calculates" out to be 27.18":

Here is the formula ...
section width / 25.4 x aspect ratio x 2 + wheel dia = tire dia.
235/25.4 = 9.252 x 0.55 = 5.089 x 2 =10.177 + 17 = 27.177"

I assumed that the 2015 spare well dimensions are likely a carry-over from S197, since the spare itself remains unchanged.

Either way, knowing that the stock 17" fits down in there is good to know and if it really is 27.4", the well has got to be slightly larger dia. than S197.

I've got 215/65-17 Michelin X-Ice Snows (28.00" calculated dia, std. tire size for 2011-14 V6 AT) and this would NOT fit down in the spare well even fully deflated.

Anyone with the V6 does the passenger seat recline and move back and forth? The order guide calls it a "2-way" seat and I have no clue what that means.

2-Way means manual forward and back.

The seat back also reclines manually and functions the same on all 2015 Mustang front seats (no power options for the seat "back" other than lumbar in the driver's seat).

The seat backs now also have memory in that they will return to the pre-set recline position after letting someone in the back seat (unlike '05-14 which is pretty annoying).

So glad you're happy with it! Lovin mine, too. I think the engine gets stronger after about 10k. Try it with premium - it's a pleasant surprise.

Have fun!

its interesting...

I was on fords site just last week on ford.ca, the 2015 is still being advertised at 0% interest. For chits and giggles, I built out the EB with the same packages as my 2016 V6 and I was looking at $581 a month for 60 months.

Then I priced out the 2015 V6 and I was looking at $518 for 60 months.

I currently play just under $440 a month for my 2014 V6 and am paying it off over 60 months at 3.99% and have more packages on my 2014 than I could possibly get on the EB and the 2015 V6 model.

and yes - I put in all of the same financing details to be sure that I had same numbers when I built and ordered my 2014

I really am glad that I pulled the trigger on a 2014!

I'm leasing my V6 with 051a okg and spoiler delete for about $240 per month and they gave me free maintenance and tire /wheel coverage ( that was $1 per month) they are a great dealership and always stand buy the product and have done right by me and my family over the years so I'm a very happy guy! Plus I'll buy her out when the lease is up and get a 120k full warranty from Ford when I'm ready. We already discussed it and they'll give it to me at near cost( I work for a dealership so I know what they run typically). Hoping to trade our 13 Fusion in a couple of years on a new Escape or Edge for my wife . It's just so easy when you work with a really great dealership. No fighting, haggling or nonsense and I ALWAYS get a great deal!

One of the calculators isn't working properly, because it's mathematically impossible (bottom line being equal) that 3.99% for 60 months is less than 0% for 60.

I must have received a sweet deal then. Keep in mind the 2015 base model starting price is much higher than the 2014 was.

I'm pretty sure that the base model for the 2014 was around 21k where as the 2015 is just over 25k

feel free to build out on fords Canadian site. I can tell you that with 3k down fords site is showing $500 monthly.

I'm paying $224.53 bi-weekly. with 6k worth of upgrades.

That's why I buy used...
I got my 13 premium with the pony package and nav (manual of course) for $358/month for 60 months. They threw in 2 years of free oil changes and tire rotations too. I also didn't put any money down. Car only had 18k on it.

biweekly payments change it a little since it adds one extra biweekly payment per year compared to monthly. So, 224.53 biweekly is the same as $486.48 monthly not 449

You still ended up with a lot more options for your money getting a 2014 either way.
