Winter Tire advice needed - '15 GT PP
I just got a '15 GT 50th Anv. Edition and I live in Chicago area...so need a winter swap out for wheels/tires!
I'm sure this may be covered, but could find specifics...

- What winter/snow tires would you recommend?
- Would you just stay with stock wheel size? I believe the 50th Anv comes standard with the Performance wheel size (with limited edition wheels). I was going to find some stock take-offs of aftermarket wheels to make the swap easier. ...thoughts?!

...light snow out the window as I type. But, is thinking ahead to next year...my garage is under our house, and I would never get out of the driveway!

The stock PP wheels should be easy to find, though they're a PITA to clean, so I don't know if I'd use them for snow wheels. The mesh style will trap a lot of snow for sure. They're also staggered - not the best for snow tires, since I'm assuming you'd want them to last a few seasons and want to be able to rotate.
I'd go for a square set of the GT350 style wheels so you can use the same tire size all around.
Or maybe even a set of these, if they clear the PP Brembos (I believe they do, but you'd want to verify with LMR): https://lmr.com/item/M1007DC199LGB/2...nt-Black-Wheel
Then you could run a 255/40/19 all around. Better to have narrower tires in the snow anyways right?

Yes you can do the same all around, though you may actually want to go with a little bit taller size since your stock is 275/40 in the rear. If you did 255/40, your speedometer would be off a little, which you could fix with a tuner.
Or, you can just do a taller tire all around that matches the same height as 275/40/19.
And correct, you cannot rotate your stock summer tires. They're different sizes and widths front/rear. The rears won't even clear the front without a spacer.

Just looked up winter tires in 245/45/19 for you, which was a factory size on 10-14 cars. Exact same height as your 275/40/19 rears. Do 245/45/19 on a set of 19x9s all around and you'd be good to go!

I ended up finding some of the black PP "take offs" with the stock tires on ebay for just over $1K...I will get snow tires for them and keep the stock ones for replacements later...seem like like a good path!?

Almost everyone will tell you to get Bridgestone Blizzaks for winter tires. They are good but expensive. I went with Firestone Winterforce tires this past winter and had absolutely no problems. I am in the Chicago area so I drove in the same stuff you do. They are less expensive than Bridgestones.

Yup, Blizzaks. They are expensive but cheaper than touring your car or killing yourself. I had them in Colorado on both of my old mustang and a nitrous RX-8 and drove the cars year round-up. Even when trucks and 4x4's were getting stuck all around me, I never slipped.
Had them on FWD cars as well, they perform amazingly.
