2014 Shelby GT500 6 piston Brembo brakes review
I have a 2014 Mustang GT base model with tech package. The base model brakes are complete crap! I couldnt believe Ford put these brakes on a 420 hp car honestly. I purchased Hawk HPS pads and if you are on a budget the HPS are awsome and they do help alot. However, i was not happy with that and had to upgrade. I found the 2014 Gt500 Brembos @ LMR for about $1400 bucks and i bought a set. Wow... These things are incredible! For daily driving on the stock pads these babys are verry smooth and easy, like a normal set of brakes. However when you stop in a hurry they bite like a Pit bull. These brakes are no joke and worth every penny! I dont track my car so it is a bit over kill but isnt that the point of owning a Mustang any ways lol? These things are huge, the rotors are absoluteIy massive so make sure your wheels will clear them! "I am now just as excited to stomp the brake pedal as i am the gas pedal" thanks for taking the time to read, any questions just ask!

I have Sve Drift wheels and they are 19/9.5/+35 off set i believe. I can tell you that they hardly clear these beasts, these brakes are "Huge" especialy the rotors!

I love those brakes. I love the stock Brembo 4 pistons as well. I just put some HAWK HP+ pads in there and ATE Super Blue Race DOT 4 fluid in there and what a difference. Wants to pull your eyes out of the socket when you romp on them. Try some upgraded pads when those wear out.

I'm getting those same wheels for my car soon, as well as the same brake kit sometime this summer. Would love to see how the those calipers would look color matched to the body paint. Think it would do pretty well in a car show with that combo?

Yeh that would look sweet. Especially with the black wheels, it would really stand out!

Wouldn't their issues be addressed by ducting some cooling air to the brakes? Adding the Boss brake cooling ducts would do wonders I bet.

If I recall, they were putting the GT500 up against a ZL1...while initially faster, the GT500 was only good for one lap around the track they were using before the brakes were fading bad. Another lap or two and the ZL1 would pass it. They noted the ZL1's brakes had proper cooling ducts while the GT500 did not. Of course in a straight line, the ZL1 did not stand a chance...662hp vs 580hp. I've also seen stock dyno pulls and the GT500 had 100 more rwhp.
It's been a couple of years since I read the article though.
