Trackey Install for 2012 Boss 302

Hey All;

I was wondering if anyone could advise of a shop in the Northern VA, Washington DC, Maryland area that does the Trackey install? I'm ordering my voucher today and wanted to know of a shop who can atcually do the install. My dealers service dept isn't properly equipped to do the install, so I'm kind of in a "holding" pattern until I locate a shop. Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks,

Ben

I hope to do the same thing soon. Where did you order your voucher from and what dealer did you go to initially?

I bought my Boss at Koons of Sterling, but I live in MD. I hope to find a dealer closer for the track key install.

Rob, Just FYI, I contacted Koons Ford in Annapolis and they advised they could do the track key for about 157.00. I called about 10 or so dealerships in the area and so far that's the cheapest, and them seem to know what they were talking about. I called Sterling Ford and the tech, was on lunch break and never called me back, so I have to follow up on that one today. I will keep you posted. I was surprised at how some dealerships didn't know what the track key app was! LOL

That is interesting! I thought that all dealers charged $302 plus labor. That is one a hell of a deal!

Is the $157.00 just the labor? That cant be the full cost.

Stephen;

That's why I'm looking for the best deal on the install in n my area. If I can get lower than 157.00 I consider myself making out like a bandit! LOL

No, already paid 229.00 for the voucher from Tousley Ford, the 157.00 is what Koons Ford Annapolis is charging me (if I go there) for the install.

I just got off the phone with a tech at Waldorf Ford in Waldorf, Md and he advised me that the "install" of the track key would take 2 hours at a cost of 105 per hour, plus tax. The tech advised that they have done "a number of track key" installs. So I guess 2 hours in my "area" is the going rate if you already have the voucher.

Ben, thanks for that info. I definitely want to go somewhere that has done a few track keys before. I will be buying my voucher soon and will give Steve a call at Tousley Ford (as their price beats Summit Racing). Please reply back with where you chose to have it installed, and how your experience was.

My local dealer quoted around$150. I thought that seemed low compared to what I had heard. He told be the had done one recently and it took a little over an hour. I sure most dealers are charging for two hours of labor hence the 200-300 dollar prices

I went by Koons Ford Annapolis after work and talked to Jody. After advising him and another tech (Mike) on me having the voucher and I "kind of" did my homework they both agreed that 100.00 was what they would charge since it shouldn't take no more than a hour! Lol.

As soon as my voucher arrives I'm taking it over; I will post the results.

2 hr is to much, 1hr top even the instruction's that come with the voucher said 1hr, mine took 1hr 15min and i paid just for 1hr.

Just ordered my Track Key today. My dealer said $302 plus tax and $135 for install. I'm feeling a little bummed that I could have gotten it for $229.

The older I get...The more I just dig dealers. Probably like most of y'all, who are enthusiasts, I try and educate myself as much as possible on the vehicle I intend on purchasing. Well, I got a voice message this afternoon...It was my salesman. He said they had the Track Key kit in hand....and he "Was wondering if I wanted the service guys to install it??? They would have to charge me one hour labor...did I want them to install it?" I had to inform the salesman that paying $302 plus tax....and not having the software installed...was a waste of time and money......... since "I" could not install it myself because I don't have access to Ford's special website. Wow!!!! I have a loss of words beyond that ( Other than WTF are those guys thinking? ) Can't wait to pick up my new ride...hopefully Track Key will function properly .
