If that's the case then no one should ever test drive a car ever again. And therefor no one should buy a new car because it's not worth the risk to test drive.

It is entirely possible that these are accurate prices. Don't assume anything these days. At my dealership, a salesman took out a rim and tire on a new f150. Even at employee price I wanna say the bill was almost 1k. I understand 1900$ is a lot, but there is something to be said for personal responsibility.

Normally I agree. But if I bump into you and my coffee gets all over your suit, I'll do the right thing and offer to cover the dry cleaning expense.
I'm not going to give you the money to buy you a new suit that costs more than the one you have at retail. Especially when I can see the tag, and know you got the suit for sale at 1/2 off.

Quick question
Did u test drive alone without the sales consultant?
In canada the law now says if a test drive is accompanied by a sales rep, dealership's insurance will cover unforseen carelessness, however if u took it for a spin without a rep, the onus is on the customer, it's ur insurance that will have to pay just like a renting a car

1. Dealer has insurance to cover this
2. Those prices are inflated beyond retail. Those wheels are not $1200 each. Those tires are not $400 each. Labor for Mounting a Tire to a Wheel and mounting the wheel to the car is $30 not $292.
3. Depending on the state, small claims court has a $2k limit anyway (or at least used to not long ago)
4. It is doubtful the dealer will pursue this in court. Even if they win, they still lose. As noted by others above, the actual costs will be revealed in court which will be far lower than the amount he quoted and their reputation will take a hit from taking a potential customer to court.
5. Even if their insurance goes after your insurance and you have to pay the deductible, it's bound to be $1k or less. Most deductibles are $500.

Cant comment on the wheel or the labor but a 265/35R20 Pirelli P-Zero ranges from 380-400 bucks a tire over at Tire Rack.
The wheel price does seem inflated by a fair bit given what Ford charges for a Forged GT500 wheel nearly the same size but its not inconceivable if its a high quality light weight forging not produced in a sweat shop over in Asia.
