Seams like the new Stang has missed its mark. However most of the funds probably went into engineering the new car and in the coming years Ford will get to refine the performance and suspension more. Either way from the exterior and interior it already has the competition beat. It just needs to edge them out on performance now.

MT comparisons are crap. Had they chose a camaro SS and Challenger R/T it would be better, but they just can't help themselves. It would not surprise me to see them compare the Mustang (in any form) to the new McLaren ... ok sarcastic.

The way I see it, Ford had several years, millions of dollars, all the chassis tuning resources you could ever want, and even the ability to buy an example of every competitor to directly compare, and still, even with the cure-all magic of IRS, failed to beat the PP equivalent mullet from last year. This result can't have been a surprise over in Dearborn. Somebody settled for "ok" to get it on the streets.
Weren't we setting our sights on the 911? Wasn't the mullet not even an afterthought?
I'll give it some love if it wins it's class at nationals in SCCA Solo2 the way the 2011 with its terrible LRA did in 2010..

Yipes...not good.
Of the three, I think the Challenger Scat Pack with the amazing 392 is the most appealing. So shoot me.
Let's see what 2017 brings...undoubtedly, Ford has left something on the table to combat the inevitable new/light Camaro.

I'd be interested to see track comparisons from elsewhere - both track location, and magazine. These multiple compare articles have all been done on the same track from what I see so far - Willow Springs. They are also from the same magazine - MT.

That said, I will never be ashamed of admitting my love for the Camaro. It's a front engine, rwd coupe with an astounding V8 and **** good manual gear box. That's an unbeatable formula no matter what the wrapper looks like.
Challenger has always been a charmer. Strong rumors persist that 2017 will feature an all new, smaller, lighter Challenger. Bring it on!

Except it was another 1LE compared to a regular GT Premium, not even PP lol.
I really hope Ford comes out with a proper Track Pack to compete with the 1LE. I have to admit, the 1LE package is badarse and I'm jealous that GM offers it. The Brembo Package is a good deal, but the Track Pack, at least on my 2014, was way overpriced. It should've come with the Boss302 LS tires and some unique wheels, if they weren't going to change the suspension at all (compared to the Brembo Pack). Really, if Ford offered the Track Pack with the equivalent Boss302 suspension and wheel/tire combo, the Track Pack would've made a much better competitor to the 1LE.

I was at the Dodge/Jeep dealer today ordering a Wrangler Unlimited for the wife. I drove a Scat Pak & must say porky & all, I REALLY liked it. I'm almost maybe considering one to drive for a year or two. Camaro, I won't even bother sitting in one, they look like cheap junk inside & same old Camaro outside. It takes all kinds & that's why all these cars are so popular. Scott

Sorry, looking at the other cars sitting next to the Mustang it's an EASY choice, the others look COOL, especially the Camaro. That yellow Mustang looks SILLY. If you put my '13 BOSS in the mix, it's a visual stand out, and looks like it belongs in the group, AND it produces 1/4 mile times identical to the Hellcat with stock rubber. (put drag radials on that Hellcat, it's all over!) No thanks, I'll stick to a 12-13 BOSS or 13-14 Shelby.
I'm sure Ford will kick up the cool in upcoming years, but they will be playing catchup unless they do something drastic. They lighten and refine the Camaro, Ford is screwed. I for one agree with their analysis.
