2017 Ford Mustang Shelby Super Snake

It's been 50 years since Shelby introduced the automotive world to the Mustang Super Snake. Shelby brought the mega Mustang back in S197 form for the 2007 model year. Other versions of the Super Snake followed over the years. Now it's returning for 2017.

Not a 2017, but a 2016.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this car. The only thing I DO NOT like is the asking price and I'm kind of "iffy" on the automatic. This car is sold anyways, which didn't take too long. Surprisingly,..........because they were asking 150K for it!
I think it's gorgeous and if I could afford one, I would order and build one EXACTLY like it with the manual transmission. Disgustingly gorgeous!

It's "nice" of Shelby American to call this package a Super Snake but a Snake it's NOT since it's a GT with a bunch of parts added on.
It's a Super GT at best.
All Super Snakes until this abortion have been based on GT500s which are snakes of course.
Now they come out with this package, smooching off the Super Snake name, looking for sales to make huge profits off a tarted-up GT.
No thanks.

I will agree with you there 100% Gabe. I don't consider it a true Super Snake. It will never be. Only Mustangs that start life off as a GT500 are "TRUE" Super Snakes.
I'm in love with the looks of this car. I'm sure the performance is pretty awesome as well. 150K is A LOT of money. Out of my league, for sure.

It's a nice car, but if I could afford $150K, I'd get a slightly used 911 Turbo S.

Plus, this "Super GT" had a laughable roadtest in Road & Track when they tested it..
Car drove like crap, super touchy brakes, and with a reported 850 crank-horsepower it only put down a best 12.3-second, 116-mph quarter-mile run.

http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...ake-road-test/

"The brakes are a battle-you find yourself constantly trying to breathe on the pedal so as not to remove the windshield with your head. The cross-drilled and slotted floating rotors are quite loud and noticeably rough in operation. Our test car surged under light throttle and offered pronounced bucking in sixth gear when accelerating from around 3000 rpm. And while it may have been engine tuning-or perhaps something to do with the car's half-shafts or driveshaft-our Snake seemed to have considerable driveline slop, along with a fair amount of vibration under load."

Now for the 2017 model, Shelby American is claiming sub-11-second 1/4-mile times and a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds when equipped with the auto.

They do seem to have had a price decrease for the 750-hp package.
When it was first offered the package was listed at $55k plus the Mustang GT you'd bring them.
The 2017 750-hp package is now about $43k, plus the car.

http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...-up-to-750-hp/

So it's still over $70-75k for a modded GT.

No thanks.

I remember that Gabe. A real let down for a car with such power and badging to back it up.

I did hear that they were working on pricing as they wanted feedback from their fans and the fans said that the cars are too expensive, to whgich I HIGHLY agree. I guess that is where the price decrease comes from.
But, you named it perfectly,..............SUPER GT! Definitely not Super Snake.

with that being said, I would still buy one just like listed above, but with a manual if I could afford it, but I cannot touch that. Way out of my league.
