2015 Mustang Trunk Panel Badge / Emblem

My 2015 Mustang trunk panel badge / emblem (50th Anniv.- round) fell off yesterday. Washed car the day before and it did not seem loose when wiping it down. Has anyone else had this problem to occur?

I know this kind of an old post, but it happened to me too! 3 weeks has gone by and still trying to get Ford to warranty the claim.

They warranted mine with no problem. They first said that they thought it had been pried off, but I showed them there were no pry marks on the panel. I'm glad they did, part was about $900. They should cover it.

900 smackers for a trunk panel? Please tell me you are kidding.

Thumbs up

They said the same thing to me! I had to show them that no scratches were in the clear coat. They must follow a script! Anyway they did take care of mine after 5 weeks. It's not just the badge they replace, they replace the entire trunk panel, camera and all.

The only thing was after they replaced mine, the backup camera didn't have any guide lines. I thought, I can fix this, went to setting and NOPE no longer do I have a switch to turn on/off my guide lines.

Another appointment later and they "calibrated" my camera and got my guide lines back!

I will say when the trunk closes now it sounds very solid, before this all happened it always sounded "cheap" or clunky.

Hope that's all the issues I have with her for a while!!

Be Safe Everyone!

This happened to our 50YLE but Ford fixed it right away, no questions asked.

I was looking for a cleaner look for rear of the car without that obnoxious faux gas cap. I ordered a replacement panel from eBay & put the matching badges on the sides.

CRIKEY! You could put on a Truefiber real carbonfiber panel for less!

No damage to the emblem, just broken brackets.

This just happened to my car at the car wash! Anniversary Emblem just fell off! Not even 2 years old! Was the warranty claim a pain?

Same thing happened to me this morning. Noticed it was loose a few weeks ago, made appointment with the dealer. Part came in damaged, waiting for new part to come in. Closed the trunk and the last piece holding it on gave way.

My 50th Anniv.- round emblem fell to the parking lot when I closed the trunk... OMG!!! I'm glad I saw it happen otherwise I would have assumed that someone pried it off.

I've reattached it temporarily using silicone while waiting to have it replaced. It's good to know that this can possibly be covered under warranty. I'll submit a claim.

Thanks for sharing!

Mine fell off yesterday when closing the trunk. Ford is claiming its a cosmetic item and will not cover it. I'm so fed up with Ford lately.

Try another dealer Ben. Some service writers actually know their stuff. Good luck.

Oh, and take a copy of this thread with you showing that it's a common problem, and members have had their's replaced under warranty.

Anyone that had their 50th emblem fall off also notice the plastic panel cracked? A good friend of mine last night showed me his 15 GT. He brought it back to the dealership to get the emblem replaced. The dealership is saying that it fell off because of vandalism. Which is weird, cause you think if somebody wanted the emblem, they would pry it off and take it and not just leave it there to fall off later.

Anyways, we noticed the panel was a little loose. The are 2 access panels behind the panel for the screws. I took the access panel off on the right side and one of the two screws behind there just fell out. The other seems loose.

So my buddy is thinking the panel was loose enough that from the force of opening and closing the trunk, the panel flexed enough to crack a little, broke all the pins on the emblem and just fell off.

He is going to go back to the dealership to fight Ford on this one. Especially now that I see that others have had the problem too.

Yes definitely fight them for it. I was having problems with my center caps on the wheels breaking off on my Boss. I paid for the first one $45 ouch!!! Then when it happened again I complained. They reimbursed me for the first one and I've since replaced all 4 with one precious spare in my glove compartment.

MY buddy went back to the dealership where he got the car and they were jerks to him. They said they searched the internet and found nobody reporting this issue. pretty funny since it took me like 10 seconds to find this post. They are still saying it was vandalism, even though though there is no proof of it. He went there though before talking with me and getting a link to this posting.

That's what I told him to do. There are a couple other dealers in the area that I told him to go to if this one doesn't want to help.

Mine was stolen

On a trip to Dallas last year, my Mustang emblem was stolen off the trunk lid. There were three gouges in the plastic and they pried quite hard on it. My son was living around the SMU campus. I figure some college kids just wanted to support his Mustangs by taking mine. When my dealer replaced it they replaced the whole thing including the camera. I can see why it would be $$$
