2015 Mustang Fuel Economy Leaked

Not really shocked about the ecoboost numbers, but the v6 dropping below 30 is strange since its essentially the same setup.

I believe the drop for the V6 has to do with 2.37 gearing not longer the standard if I remember correctly (not 100% sure) and Ford being more realistic with their calculation.

This is utter BS. I have a 2014 V6 and it gets the exact same MPG as the 2015 ecoboost. But suddenly when Ford needs to tout their precious new ecoboost they drop the mpg on the V6 by 5 mpg? FAIL!

I have never averaged less than 21 to 22 mpg in mixed driving with my V6 and highway mpg averages 28 to 30.

So what was the point in developing the ecoboost? It gets the same MPG as the V6 it was touted to be oh so much better than. I knew when Ford released the HP numbers but not the MPG numbers that something was fishy. They had spent way too much time hyping the fuel efficiency of the ecoboost. Suddenly NOT! On top of that we still haven't seen any real world performance numbers. In the end I wouldn't be surprised if what you end up with in the ecoboost is a car that gets the same mpg and the same performance numbers as the 2014 V6. But hey, it's an "ecoboost" so that means you should be only to happy to pay more money for it.

I think ford added the ecoboost so that it would sell better in Europe, since they have higher taxes on larger displacement motors.

The Ecoboost also has more torque all available lower in the RPM range. Even if the MPG is about the same I still believe is a better option.

We'll see. Frankly the fact that we haven't seen any official performance numbers yet has raised a red flag for me just like the flag that went up when they announced the hp numbers but not the mpg numbers.

I have a 2012 V6 and can easily get 36 MPG at 65 MPH on a flat freeway. That kind of economy only started happening recently, around 25K miles.

Fords new Montra is EcoBoast. Well they want to see alot of the 4 Cylinders sold for that purpose. CAFE ratings. That will offset there truck and SUV sales.

Also You will find that IRS has more drive line loss to it.

In manufacturing the final looks and specs come from the marketing group. You will never know what or why they do what they do!!

Stay tuned.

ROFL.

There's such a dichotomy of thinking towards these cars. It's a classic american car...designed to appeal to Europeans. It's a corporate front end...but it doesn't look like a Fusion. It's a thoroughly modern design...but look at these tail lights from from a '69 and the grill from a Shelby. It's all about CAFE requirements...but it's heavier than the outgoing model.

Manual v6 was always below 30 only the auto v6 was 31. So the manual ecoboost gets better mileage than auto v6. We still haven't seen auto ecoboost yet. Which should be another 2-3 mpg higher. If you weren't aware most manufacturers are being harder on themselves in EPA ratings now due to many vehicles that were not achieving listed mileage. In addition the 2015 offers Higher axle ratios 3.31, 3.55 on more models which gets factored in.

I have a GT and a V6 Pony Package and love them both. Ford did a great job with the V6 as stated with the gas mileage and performance. I would hate not to have the option for the 6. Hey the 5.0 is awesome. OH a word about DI

I'm pretty sure the standard axle in the new car is 3.15. That's going to make a difference in fuel economy especially with the increased weight.

Yeah, I do a lot of spirited driving as well as mixed Highway/City driving and average 10L/100KM (28MPG) or better.

I could get a 100 mpg's if I coasted and pushed it but where's the fun in that? :-)
