2015 GT horsepower?

Was there any info on what the 2015 GT horsepower was going to be? Is it going to remain the same? Did not see anything. Thanks for the info.

More than 420 hp and more than 390 tq is what they said. But, no firm figures yet, as certification is likely months away.

Heck im fine with 420hp, if they could put out 420 tourqe and if the launch control works well... We could have a serious monster. Of course 450hp couldnt hurt either

I bet it won't change much. They don't need it to. It now has IRS so the power should get put down better, plus, 200 pounds lighter... It really doesn't need more.

With the mods they've listed, I'll be amazed if this isn't pulling almost Boss power. I suspect it's either not be officially rated yet, or they're holding fire to keep GM & Co on their toes. An official announcement for the 50th Party in April would be nice.

I mean, checkout the updates:

5.0L V8 (Coyote)
  • > 420 HP (projected)
  • > 390 Lb-Ft (projected)
  • Sintered-iron forged Boss-like 302 rods and springs
  • Upgrade valvetrain and cylinder heads with improved port design
  • Larger valves and cams
  • New intake manifold with charge motion-control valves
  • Redesigned piston tops
  • Balanced forged crank
  • 11:1 compression ratio
  • 155 MPH top speed
  • Even more detailed changes:
    • New cams with 1mm more intake lift and 2mm more lift on the exhaust side
    • New cylinder heads with revised high-flow ports and slightly larger valves
    • Mid-lock cam phasers to provide greater range of cam timing on the intake side
    • A revised intake manifold with charge-motion control valves.
    • The forged connecting rods from the current Boss 302 engine
    • The forged balanced crank from the current Boss 302 engine
    • The valve springs from the current Boss 302 engine
    • Standard oil cooler

Probably different/newer parts for the mass production 5L, so I wouldn't say it's a boss motor.
As well as I'm pretty sure it'll have to run 87.

At the reveal all that was said was more than 420.

But it confirms what many of us thought, no DI yet.

Clearly it isn't needed. Ford realized weight reduction, IRS, and bumping up power to Boss standards would probably be enough at this point. It'll make the car faster, handle better, and be more efficient.

I bet DI doesn't come around until the new Camaro and Cuda in a couple years. Plus they'll get it in with a small mid cycle refresh.

Yeah, practically a Boss motor so I'd expect Boss-level power at least. Nice with all the forged bits inside and standard oil-cooler. The Coyote is shaping up to go from a very impressive motor to a very, very, VEEEEERY impressive motor (imitating my 2yo boys enthusiastic expressions :-)

I could see a bit more room to grow in the future through DI, which would allow an even higher CR and thus torque, HP and efficiency.

Coupled with the vastly improved chassis, the 2015 should be far more capable of utilizing the immense go-power the Coyote delivers up. I would expect a standard GT to delve out Boss level road/track performance with the Performance Pack option readily surpassing that -- all with much better daily comfort and drivability. I suspect the raw numbers will be only half the story ("How fast it goes.") but just as important, the improved driving experience ("How well it goes fast.")

Can't imagine what SVT will do with this package (5+ liters flat-plane screamer seeing the far side of 500hp?)

The 2014 GT has 420hp/390tq so I would like to think the 2015 would have more of both.

Don't wast your money on Obamamobiles.. They took the bailout money, and opened shop in china..for that reason alone is enough for me. You couldn't give me a GM product..

Be interesting to see how a 5.0 GT performs with the track pack. I know the auto trans is limited to 155 mph, but I do not think the manual trans had a speed limit imposed on it.

If Obamamobiles are going to perform as good and look as nice as the new Vette, then sign me up bro. Everyone write a letter to Obama and thank him for the new Corvette " THANKS OBAMA"

200 lbs lighter and probably 20 more hp should yield 12.30's to 12.50's @ roughly 113 to 115 mph in the 1/4 mile, assuming some semblance of traction. Creative tuning and drag radials could have that combo running 12 flat, if not high 11's at nearly 120 mph.

You'll probably have better luck with the C7 vette, I don't think the Z/28 is going to be produced in very large numbers. I suspect as others have said its GM's 2000 Cobra R.
