Outside Air Temp - Faulty?

Hey all,

Just wondering if anybody has experienced this. The temperature on my car when I started it this afternoon read 55F. It was about 80F outside here in Southern California. It seems that it was still at the morning temperature when I drove the car to work. Upon driving home the temperature crept up 1F at a time until it reaches the actual outside temperature after about 10 minutes.

In the past it would immediately read the outside temp. Car is out of warranty but has the certified pre owned warranty. I'm hoping this is covered.

Any thoughts? Thank you!

have had the same problem with my 2013. dealer replaced parts still not accurate. off by as much as 30 degrees. Funny the outside temp. reads accurately (fairly) on two other Fords... a Focus and an Freestyle.

I thought the sensor was too close to the engine or exhaust picking up the heat. Ive just accepted that its useless at this point,. be interested to know if anyone has had theirs repaired or adjusted to work.

Check and see if the sensor is still properly placed, it may be stuck somewhere where it can't get good air flow from outside.

Thanks for the reply all. Where can I find the sensor to check its placement?

It should be in the lower grille, mine was positioned right in the opening from the factory.
