Heated seat went nuclear hot and died

I have a 2012 Gt with heated seats. I was driving home with them on they become so hot it was almost painful. I shut the heater off and now they don't work. The switch still lights up and I can hear an audible click but no heat. Any ideas? I was hoping someone has had a similar experience before I start taking things apart to troubleshoot. Any help is appreciated.

Anyone have their heated seats stop working and have to repair them? I'm looking for what the bill was to get an idea of how much money I need to save.

No idea on the cost, but I had the same thing happen on my older Explorer. Couple years ago I noticed that the driver seat was hot as hell one day when I had it on, almost burning my ****. Don't use them much down here where I live so I didn't use them again for quite a while. Next time I tried to use it, didn't work.

Same thing happened to my driver seat 12GT. Ford wanted $475 to replace both elements (seat and back) you can do it yourself for $160 just have to deal with removing the seat covers.
