Failed Rack and Pinion: 2013
I have a 2013 Mustang (52,000 miles) that I took into a local dealership to have diagnostics done for a loud rubbing noise that occurs whenever I turn left. The report is that the rack and pinion have gone bad, an electric part that has failed due to water intrusion. I keep the car in a garage, and have never driven through any standing water!
I was quoted $2100 to repair the damage, this cannot be expected for a car of this age, right? I know that there has been a recall on Ford Fusions for the same reason, is this a known issue for the Mustang as well? Thank you so much for your time!

If you bought the car there and serviced it with them, you can ask the Service Manager for after-warranty assistance from Ford ... they should be able to help at least with the part cost, which is over $1000 for that unit ...
