Heated Seat question

Has anyone altered the heated seats setting to work as multi-level instead of just on/off? I have a factory interface with my aftermarket stereo that lets me control them and would allow a low/med/high setting if it were possible. I am wondering if it is just a different switch or module?

The seats get very hot quickly- it would be great to keep them on low....
(BTW - they came with multi-level temps from the factory on my F350)

Thanks for any help!

Sam

I don't see how it would be possible. The system is designed for ON/OFF operation, unfortunately.

Interesting you say your seats get very hot. Mine barely get luke warm.

The heated seats are disappointing to say the least.

Agreed- very disappointed with them. I just barely let mine heat up for about five minutes and then I have to turn them off. Funny thing is - the seats in my Ford truck have 3 levels and are fabulous. I'm going to check with my dealer just for grins and also with an outside mechanic. I'll get back if I learn anything.

Talked to the dealer/ aftermarket upholstery shop and Maestro today.....only way to change what you have is to replace the heater with an aftermarket - they put a switch somewhere on the dash or wherever you want it with off/low/hi setting. There is no factory integration. I'm going to stick with what I have for now...it's about $550 for both front seats FYI....

I can leave mine on for an hour and you barely feel it...of course, the dealer says they're fine. I have my last inspection before the warranty ends coming up and I'll try to talk to them again ...not real hopeful

Mine heat quite nicely, but this is my first car with heated seats. They do make top down cruising possible on cooler days.

Mine are quiet nice with the top down. Then put floor heater on if need be.
I have been in other cars where they were hotter. My friends Vw jetta were hot hot. And different settings. My brothers suburban is gets pretty warm too.
The mustang seems to get hot then cool down and fluctuates temp throughout. I tapped the button while my friend was sitting in it. They never said anything. So makes me wonder if they even knew or just thought that's what it's naturally like.

I always thought those heated seats were subpar: Slow to heat and only 1 possible setting.
By comparison; my girlfriend has a 2013 Ford Escape with heated cloth seats. Her seats have a button you can spin (0-5) temperature settings. Her seats heat up really quickly. And her setting of 1 is way hotter than mine. 5 is like putting your back next to a fire. It's perfect when she had pulled back muscles. It was like a heating pad.

Yep, they're terrible. Makes me mad that Ford shows 2 heat settings in the pictures on the website at the time too.

. I didn't know that! Bastards!
Besides the fact that those seats don't heat up quickly, I prefer the non push button style. My girlfriend leaves here dials on 1 or 2. And then the seats are warm when she goes out in the morning.

I replaced my leather upholstery with cloth. Heated seats get much hotter now than they did with leather.

My heated seats burned a HOLE in my 11 GT/CS vert..

So, yeah, a multilevel switch would be nice.

My seats seam to get warm, then turn off, then get warm, turn off, etc.

Do your seats do this as well? Maybe mine has issues. Gonna check the passenger seat out tonight...

'13 V6 Prem. with cloth seats here. My heated seats get VERY warm very quickly, they do not cycle on/off automatically. I rarely keep them on for more than 5 minutes unless it's extremely cold. So yeah, having at least a low/high sure would be nice, and now that you mention it: why didn't they do that, seems kind of obvious, for the same reason heating/AC isn't just on/off. [my first car with heated seats too]

The heated seat in my 2013 Mustang with leather work fine for me, although an option to adjust the level of heat would be nice.

Now in my wife's Lincoln MKZ, those are some nice seats! Heated and cooled up front, heated in the rear. And the front seat also have massaging with three levels of massage!

I hope my heated seats never quit working. My wife and I love using them, even with the top down.

Ordered My 12 GT Vert Premium with the "Comfort Package" to get the heated seats. Was very annoyed that I had to spend an additional $500 to get this on a $38,000 car. They take way too long to heat up but are OK once they do. The whole idea of heated seats is to get instant results on a cold morning. These disappoint. I am 3 miles into my commute before they are warm. I have a Mazda 6 and a Toyota Solara, both have only on/off heat but both heat up much quicker and both were included with the "Premium" package. And both cars were far less expensive than the Mustang. Come on Ford.
