IMSA: Ganassi and Ford aiming high in 2015

http://www.racer.com/imsa/item/11226...in-2015-112265

With a single Riley-Ford EcoBoost DP ready to go up against four Corvette DPs, not to mention former Ford DP runner Michael Shank Racing who’s fielding a Ligier-Honda, Ganassi managing director Mike Hull and Ford Racing director Jamie Allison know they are facing significant odds.

If they’re going to break through the GM armada that finished 1-2-3 in last year’s championship, they’ll need to have exceptional speed from the No. 01 chassis, flawless performances from team veteran Scott Pruett and his new teammate Joey Hand, and reliability to match or exceed their rivals.

Allison – a first ballot nominee for the Optimist's Hall of Fame – says the brand and their partners at Ganassi are ready for the challenge awaiting the team from the Rolex 24 to Petit Le Mans.
It was hard to spot from the outside, but Ford’s EcoBoost DP underwent an aggressive R&D program throughout the 2014 season. Most notable among the changes, the Roush Yates-built 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 was placed on a steady diet, and is said to have lost 40 pounds or more by the championship finale at Petit Le Mans
.
The improvements have continued during the offseason, and according to Hull, the Riley’s engine bay has been the center of attention.

Better start this year vs. 2014 . . .

Hand on Top After Friday Roar Testing
http://sportscar365.com/imsa/tusc/ha...-roar-testing/

It marks an 180-degree reversal for the Ganassi team at the Roar, following a troubled 2014 appearance where the team actually packed up after the Saturday last year in its first outing with the new turbocharged engine.

“I know they’ve done a lot of work over the year, and made it more drivable,” Hand said. “This car drives very nice.”

Saturday!! 11am PT

FOX Sports has unveiled its broadcast lineup for the 53rd Rolex 24 At Daytona, which begins on FOX network television at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 24. The race opens the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup.

Bob Varsha and Brian Till will share hosting and play-by-play duties, with analysis from racers Justin Bell, Calvin Fish and Tommy Kendall. Chris Neville, Matt Yocum, Jamie Howe and Andrew Marriott will report from the pits.

For FOX Sports coordinating producer Greg Oldham, heading into his 26th year of covering the iconic endurance race, it’s all about telling the stories.

“This event certainly offers a terrific challenge,” Oldham said. “With four classes of cars racing simultaneously, there’s always outstanding racing and great stories to tell. And even over a 24-hour period, the action is constant. We feel we have a great announce team in the booth and in the pits that can tell the many stories that develop in the two days we are on the air. It is a demanding event, but with the team in front of, and behind the cameras, I can’t wait for the green flag to drop."

Fans will have access to live coverage of the entire Rolex 24 At Daytona through a combined effort between FOX Sports and IMSA.com. The complete broadcast schedule is as follows:

Saturday, Jan. 24 (All Times ET)

- 2-4 p.m. (FOX Network)

- 4-8 p.m. (FOX Sports 2)

- 8-10 p.m. (FOX Sports 1)

Overnight (Jan. 24-25)

- 10 p.m. - 7 a.m. (IMSA TV on IMSA.com - live video streaming and commentary)

Sunday, Jan. 25

- 7 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (FOX Sports 1)

Correct. I don't have the bandwidth on cell modem for vids. And all you netflix/streaming people have turned my broadband into dial up during peak hours.

Yep. Yet the Chevy DP's finished (2 thru 5). And I was disappointed the EB wasn't more impressive. But I guess barely winning is still a win.

Nice to see the Viper win its class - even without factory help.

I need to

I was also pleased to see the Viper win the GTD class. I have a soft spot in my heart for the Viper, it reminds me of a Cobra Daytona Coupe.
Good to see the Ford Ecoboost take the overall win. I was thrilled to see Kyle Larson win his first major race in a Ford powered race car.
