SVTPP is it a got to Have??

The 3.73's on the SVTPP are no lower than the 3.55's on the non SVTPP.
The bigger 20" wheels and tires on the SVTPP necessitated the 3.73 gears to compensate otherwise the SVTPP cars would be slower than the non SVTPP cars with the 3.55's and smaller tires.
But as I've said for years, and the REASON I got my 5.0 with the 3.55's in the first place.
The 3.73's are too short, even for the standard 5.0, and ESPECIALLY if you mod the 5.0
The need to shift into 5th gear in the 1/4 mile with the standard 5.0 and 3.73's is ridiculous.
The more power you have the less gear you need, otherwise it's just spin city.
Hence the reason Ford put the 3.55's in the GT500 and now with the 13 GT500 with even more power they dropped to the 3.31's
The Boss 302 is the only version of the Mustang where I feel a 3.73 is utilized.
The reason, the Boss 302 engine revs to 7500 rpms and can therefore utilize the lower gearing better. Furthermore since the Boss 302 engine actually has LESS torque than the standard 5.0 having the shorter gearing helps compensate for the slightly less torque down low. The Boss 302 still completes the 1/4 mile in 4th too even with the 3.73's because of the 7500 rpm redline.
However, a Boss 302 with 3.55's with intake and tune on it would be sweet I bet.
OP, if you aren't going to track your 11-12 GT500, there is no real reason for you to get the SVTPP option.
No reason to spend extra money on something you don't need.
