Shock out?

My 2014 has 40,500 miles as of today. I got new tires two weeks ago. The car rides much better but now I'm noticing what sounds kinda sorta like an issue with the suspension on at least the front driver's side. It's not audible with the radio on but I can hear it with the radio off. I have a section of my street in my neighborhood that has the faux cobblestone treatment done to it and when I hit that section, the sound from the front left is like a rapid rattle. My wife's Honda Odyssey did the same thing shortly before we traded it off. But either way, it's not a very loud noise. But it sounds...uncontrolled, if that makes sense. I've not driven anything where I knew there was a busted shock/strut since my dad's old Chevette in the 80's. I remember when a shock went out on it, it literally sounded like someone was beating the underside of the car with a hammer. This is no such noise. Should I just look for a fluid leak?

And if so...recommendations for replacements if I don't want to go hog wild price wise? I may do it myself or may go to dealer... I have compressors.

It may be low tech but you could push down on the affected side and see if it acts the same as the other. I had a car with blown shocks and it was extremely squishy/bouncy when you pressed down on it hard and let it come back up.
