Anybody else have this kind of sloppy paint under the hood on the fender?



I'm not sure if I should just leave it alone.

I have that in one of my door sills.

Yes, in this same area. The paint does not adhere to the rough surface indefinitely. Maybe touch it up once it rubs off?

Yep, same area on my 2014 as well. Mine looks the same with little blisters of missing paint. In fact I just added some touch up paint the other day as I was concerned about rust forming on the bare metal.

I'll keep an eye on them and have touch-up paint ready when they start popping.

Nope. The part shown in the photo is steel. The flaws are in the paint. The hood is aluminum and the corrosion people are experiencing on them is a different issue.

I honestly think this is acceptable for a car in this price range. They have to cut corners somewhere. It's not visible from the outside, so I'd just live with it.

I kinda agree, as long as that's not corrosion forming. It'd be totally unacceptable on a $100K-plus car though.

Yup...my '03 Taurus has this "flaw" and it's never posed an issue in 13 years and 208,000 miles.

I won't call it acceptable but I will say I can live with it. I'm only concerned with it getting worse and then rusting. I'm going to get some touch up and seal any popped bubbles.

All three s197 Mustangs I've owned have had that and none turned to rust. There's
primer under the paint.

Good to know. Wasn't sure if the primer was involved in the bubbling.

Yes, my 14 has that in roughly the same spot. I tried to get it fixed under warranty along with some other paint defects on the underside of the hood and was denied. They said I spilled something on the paint causing it to look like that. Ford Warranty sucks.

Didn't see that on mine 2013 GT. However I got my hood replaced under warranty due to bubbles forming up.

Bubbles on my hood too when I first bought her. Got her painted at my dealer a while back and no return.
