The PCM programming in the Mustang will be much better for the manual mode than the edge I'm sure.
It's already been told that in manual mode it will hold the gear to any rpm right up to the rev limiter and will give very positive shifting.

I have been trying it in the 2012 Focus Titanium we have and it just feels unnatural without the actual motions of using a clutch pedal and rowing the shifter...

A couple of buttons does seem a little poor in 2012 though
I hope the '15MY has a similar setup as Steptronic......with paddles behind the steering wheel it would be even better.

But but but...what good is a legendary muscle car if you have to control 420HP with a touch of a button? i wouldnt mind it if the +/- was done with the whole shifter but it seems like mustang is becoming a ...beamer?

One other reason to get an auto over a manual if that Ford will cover all parts of an automatic trans under warranty. With a manual, they don't cover any of the clutch parts, flywheel, or throw out bearing, clutch pedal assembly, and will question the hell out of a manual trasmission warranty claim since it can be worn from user input, unlike an automatic.

IMO...I don't mind the look of my 2011 auto, it's not that tall, and I like the 'T' feel of it, ergonomically, I like it. And, like all other 'old guys' here, I've driven manuals my whole life, and wifey wanted auto for her time behind the wheel. So I caved! As for manu-matic, I totally agree with Paul...I had an Infiniti G35 and Audi A4, both were my wife's cars, auto, but with a Tip-Tronic approach - you shift the lever to the right, then + and - for shifts, worked well. A button seems kinda strange.

From my point of view, I'm getting older and lazy, and spend 85% of the time on the highway. I've had nothing but Manual transmission Mustangs up to this point, but being able to manually control the automatic has been what's kept me from choosing an auto, but the 2013 manumatic has changed that for me.

The "T" look was meant to replicate the 1960's car
The whole interior (not just the exterior) was basically inspired be the 1960's styling, and they are slowly getting away from the retro look. Probably a hint toward the 2015 style, which many believe will be a non-retro look.
