How can I remove a scratch on the steering wheel?

Hi, So I scratched the metal part of the steering wheel today by accident when my cell phone fell from the wind shield mount onto the steering wheel. I have a 2012 GT with the stock steering wheel. I scratched the metal part of the wheel. Is it metal? or stainless steel? Anyone know how I can remove this scratch? it looks very ugly, and I'm disappointed my wind shield mount suction cup failed.

You mean one of the silver spokes got scratched? Pretty sure it's plastic. I would assume Ford only sells the whole steering wheel assembly.

yes the silver spoke, oh it's plastic? ****. So i mean is there an interior plastic scratch remover you'd recommend, or just go to auto zone and grab one.

You might be better off leaving it alone. Plastic scratch remover might take the paint off the plastic, leaving you worse off.

Agreed.

Can you post a pic? Have you tried cleaning the area to make sure there's no residue or anything still on the spoke?

You can buy that piece separately. It just snaps in.

That's great news. I just managed to scratch mine (ever so slightly) with my key
Where can I get it?

Oh, and BTW: I don't think they're plastic because they feel way colder in winter than the rest of the steering wheel

Many suction mounts will fail in different temps. I usually remount my GPS every few days in my Bronco and never have them where they can fall and hurt something, especially if they could bother my driving.

In the Mustang, I use a mounting that sets into the accessory power plug and holds the GPS.

Those steering wheel covers seem delicate at best. There are several post around where some have painted them to match their car.

Not a bad idea either! But then, I don't think sterling grey metallic would look good on a steering wheel. Matt black would be nice though...
